Binagol

A sweet steamed delicacy of the Waray people. Made from mashed giant taro corms, condensed milk, sugar, coconut milk, and egg yolks. It is placed in half of a coconut shell.

Kinatloan (Traditional Cookies)

A traditional crunchy biscuit, often described as a local rustic version of biscotti.

Snapping Shrimp (Takla)

A famous local seafood dish. Found in muddy mangrove areas, known for having an oversized claw. It is typically cooked in coconut milk or stir-fried, and is often served as a snack.

Suman (Budbud)

An elongated rice cake. It is made from glutinous rice, cooked in coconut milk and wrapped in either in banana or coconut leaves, or buli leaves. It is usually sprinkled with sugar or laden with latack.

Sun-dried bananas (Tinunlob)

A traditional delicacy. Made from thinly sliced, sun-dried bananas, each piece is strung along a coconut midrib, forming a lei or necklace. The slices are then dipped into caramel, made from muscovado sugar. These treat are ready available at Calape’s Markey, on Thursday.
