Perched high above the town in Barangay Sohoton, Red Tierra de Agaton is one of Calape’s most unusual and striking natural attractions — a wide stretch of red earth landscape that’s quickly becoming a favorite spot for photos, sightseeing, and quiet escapes.
The reddish soil gets its color from rich iron oxide content, creating a dramatic contrast against the blue sky and lush greenery that surround it. From its elevated viewpoint, visitors can enjoy sweeping views over Calape, the nearby islands, and the sea, making it a scenic stop for both sunrise and sunset moments.
Locals call the site “Puwang Yuta ni Lolo Agaton,” and although it’s still developing as a tourist attraction, it already features photogenic platforms, simple activity areas, and plenty of space for captures that stand out on social feeds. Many visitors come here for casual shoots, nature walks, or as a quiet lookout point away from the usual beach crowds.
An entrance fee helps support basic upkeep, and getting there typically involves a short habal‑habal (motorbike) ride or a drive along the winding road uphill from the town center.
Red Tierra de Agaton is a great example of Calape’s hidden gems — not a resort or a big park, but a raw, earthy landscape with a view, perfect for travelers who enjoy striking natural sights off the typical tourist trail.
